POPPELS BEGAN IN 2012

The Poppels story began on December 1st, 2012 with the launch of our Brown Ale – the very first beer we sold at the Systembolaget (the Swedish government monopoly).

POPPELS RELEASES ITS AMERICAN PALE ALE

On May 1st we released what would become our biggest selling beer to date – our American Pale Ale. This national favourite is available in all the Systembolaget stores throughout Sweden.

PROJECT 003

In June 2014 we decided to introduce a fruit beer into our range for the first time. Our Project 003 Imperial Saison featured crowd-picked redcurrants and sold out in minutes of being released.

POPPELS EXPANDS

In December 2014 the second expansion of our brewery in Mölnlycke took place, enabling us to reach a maximum brewing capacity of 350,000 litres!

POPPELS FOR EVERYONE

In August 2015 we signed an agreement with Swedish distributor Brill, which meant beer enthusiasts from outside the Gothenburg area could try a Poppels at bars and restaurants for the very first time.

POPPELS GOES INTERNATIONAL

Our first ever stop on our ongoing international tour around the world happened in March 2015 when we started sending beer to our fantastic neighbour Norway.

THE MOVE TO JONSERED

In May of 2015 Poppels relocated to our new brewery in the Jonsered factory district in a move designed to help us meet the huge increase in demand for our beers. Our vision was and still is to be one of Sweden’s top beer destinations, with a fully licensed onsite bar, restaurant and shop.

SWEDEN’S LARGEST ORGANIC BREWERY

Since moving to Jonsered Poppels has committed to brewing all its beers organically. In the Autumn of 2016 we were officially awarded organic certification for our entire range!

POPPELS FIRST FOLK BEER

‘Folk beer’, much like a folk song, should be easy-going, pleasant and uplifting. In March 2017 we launched our Session Pale Ale into grocery stores across the country.
